Thanks for visiting On the Cutting Floor today. This is my latest pattern: Barbara Dress.
This time, I have worked in collaboration with Hawthorne Threads to create a beautiful 50's inspired dress with a modern touch.
I have to admit, this has been one of the hardest projects so far. Not because of the fabric or the techniques used; they are actually very easy, but to try to keep it simple, classic and practical; highlighting the beauty of the fabric by simple lines and a great flow.
I hope I achieved just that :)
More pics?
(please do not laugh about my arms, next summer I'll use sunblock from day 1!!!)

About the fabric
The fabric chosen for this project is the gorgeous Dotted Boulevard Knit in Black from the Jungle Avenue Collection of Sarah Lawson, a limited edition by Art Gallery Fabrics.
I have to say that I am a huge fan of the Art Gallery Fabrics, especially its latest collections. However, this is the first time that I have the pleasure to work with them.
They are amazing.
The dress is so soft that I have been using it night and day! (maybe not the entire night LOL!)

Printing Instructions:
This printable PDF pattern is assembled BY OVERLAPPING THE PAGES 1/2 INCH. That will make it easier to assemble and avoid further fitting issues.
The pattern comes in letter size paper.
To print this pattern, go the PDF document. Select FILE -- PRINT.
This will be the layout of your pattern:
It will print 32 pages. Wait until all the pages are printed before taking them from the printer; it will make it easier to assemble.
When finish printing, place the pages as the layout below. Then use tape to put them together. Now cut the pieces.
I have purposely erased the numbers from those pages that do not have any lines. In that case, you will be able to save some pages for your future projects.
To avoid this, check the 1 inch square inside of the front bodice pattern. It will help you to see if the patterns are the correct size.
The PDF pattern comes in sizes from 4 to 22 (US Size). If you have any doubts about the sizes, please refer to the body measurement chart above.
