The easy shorts tutorial
This shorts were initially designed to go with the peplum top pattern, though it will be perfect for knit t-shirt as well. It is a very simple, easy pattern that it took me about an hour to put together. Instructions 1. Place the front and the back shorts together, right sides facing, pin and sew them. 2. Place the two shorts legs together, pin the crotch area and sew along. 3. Waistband: Close the sides of the waistband.
4. Place the waistband and the shorts together, right sides facing, pin and sew it. Double fold the top of the waistband by 1/4 inch and sew it. 5. Shirring: Put the elastic thread on the bobbin manually, then place the bobbin on the bobbin case.
6. Set your sewing machine to the longest stitch length and the highest number on the tension. 7. Place the waistband right side up, since the elastic thread must be visible on the inside of the shorts. 8. Make parallel lines of 3/8 inch width (basically, the width of the presser foot) After a few lines, the shirring will show. 9. Finish the shorts by putting the bias tape on the hemline. |
