I have always had trouble with the clothing sizes. When I was a little girl, my mom used to dress me up with my older brother old clothes...which made me look a little like a tomboy LOL.
Nothing really fit me at the time.
Then I grew, taller than the average woman in Chile (average is 5'' tall and I am 5''9'). The sleeves of my sweaters were too shorts and the length of my pants were just below my calf. Ridiculous!
Then, I got my little boy Owen, who was born 23'' tall and kept growing frantically for the next 18 months. Again, nothing fit him. Until this day I bought him 4T clothes so the sleeves don't look too short.
So, I understand the pain of getting your brand new patterns and see the sizes without knowing which one to choose. That is why I have upload these two charts with useful body dimensions on kids from 1 to 8 years. As you can see, one is in centimetres and one is in inches.
I hope it gives you a better idea of which size to use.
Happy sewing!
