Hello everyone,
This is the first time I post about my income in this website and I hope it is helpful for you.
As you have seen, On the Cutting Floor is mainly about sewing patterns, resources and useful links for those learning or improving their sewing skills. Plain simple.
I wanted to make this website without charging on my sewing patterns (or charging very little) but providing quality material that my readers would love.
I planned this website for about 2 months; not only learning about blogging, but also about ways of making money doing it. That is the honest and straight forward reason to start with this in the first place.
While learning about blogging and passive income (making money out of actions made in the past, such as older post or patterns, as well as commission for affiliate sales and sponsorship) one of the things that helped me the most was the income disclosure in other blogs.
They were insightful, helpful and honest about it. And I learned a LOT from them.
That is why I decided to talk about my income openly and help some of you out there wanting to know more about it.
Now, let's get to the numbers.
MY INCOME APRIL 2014
First of all, I started this blog on February 21st. I decided to wait for generating an income out of the website, mainly because I wanted to focus on the traffic. So during the first month I did not generate any income.
By the second month I decided to step up the game. This is how it went.
TOTAL INCOME FOR APRIL 2014: $203.69
Yay! It makes me really happy to see results so fast. To be hones, I thought that I will see $0 for the first couple of months.
THE DETAILS FOR THIS AMOUNT ARE:
Shareasale: 162.59
Patterns sold: 5.94
Adsense: 8.43
Tie Die Diva patterns: 9.92
Commission Junction: 10.27
Infolinks : 6.34
Sverve: 0.20
As you could see, the money-maker of this month is the Shareasale network; mainly because of CRAFTSY its affiliate program (actually only because of them). Its commission? 30% on courses, 10% on patterns and 1 dollar per lead; that means if you sign up with them from this link, I will make a dollar :)
If you are thinking about a blog related to crafts (sewing, knitting, scrapbooking), photography or cooking, I strongly suggest to visit Craftsy's website and get an idea of its products.
ANALYTICS:
Below you will see a screenshot of my google analytics performance of the month.

As you can see, the numbers aren't great but there is a steady growing by the end of April. Mainly because by April 16th I changed my website to the current hosting and brought all the info to just one site.
THOUGHTS FOR NEXT MONTH?
I am not going to lie. I would like to see those numbers increase by 50% at least! LOL. But let's just be realistic and say that a 10% increase on the visitors and income will be just fine ;)
I hope this report has been useful for you. Let me know your thoughts about it.
